Introduction

The American Indian Children's Council (AICC) is one of nine community engagement and organizing councils of the Los Angeles County Children's Planning Council. The American Indian Children's Council is countywide and works across the 8 Service Planning Areas.

It is the only non-geographic council because of its unique nation-to-nation relationship that tribes share with the federal government and, with extension, to local county government. Because American Indian tribes are viewed as sovereign nations, American Indians are considered to be a political entity, rather than an ethnic group.
