Position
Description
Title:
Regional Director
Reports To: Chief
Executive Officer
Summary:
One of three
management positions responsible for overall management, supervision
and support of the Council’s system of regional councils (
SPA
/AIC Councils) in
Los Angeles
County
Duties &
Responsibilities
·
Provides
formal supervision of SPA/AIC Council staff and ensures timely and
ongoing communication with council conveners on staff-related
matters
·
Develops
and implements policies to strengthen the partnership between the
regional councils and the Children’s Planning Council to achieve
the five outcomes of child well-being
·
Interprets
CPC policy and processes to regional staff and volunteers and
provides consultative expertise to support the development of the
system of councils
·
Partners
with the Strengthening Community Capacity Committee to provide
overall direction for the system of councils by addressing policy,
planning, operational and financial issues
·
Helps
improve the capacity of regional councils to develop effective
workplans and processes for decision-making to comply with and
evaluate wotkplan commitments
·
Manages
and supports activities related to strengthening community
engagement by the system of councils
·
Develops
a wide variety of public, private and community linkages to
facilitate joint action by SPA/AIC Councils as appropriate
·
Ensures
that resources allocated to the SPA/AIC Councils are used
appropriately and that effective accountability structures are in
place
·
Assists
council leadership and staff in developing annual budgets and
related agreements, if necessary
·
Oversees
and evaluates the work of consultants providing technical assistance
and support to SPA/AIC Council leadership, members and staff
·
Participates
with the CPC senior management team in the development,
implementation and evaluation of organizational goals and the
effective integration of regional council plans and priorities.

other related duties as required

Essential Characteristics

Familiar
with health, education, and human services systems and programs in
Los Angeles
County
·
Excellent
working knowledge of the diverse communities in
Los Angeles
County
·
Familiar
with issues, trends, and policies related to children and families
·
Experience
in using and applying a results-based accountability (RBA)
framework, including performance measures
·
Can
work successfully within a highly unique organizational structure
(hybrid between government and community)
·
Excellent
planning, organizing, and leadership skills
·
Good
facilitation skills, personal stature, and credibility
·
Can
communicate effectively, orally and in writing; strong writing
skills a must
·
Service
minded, creative, flexible, and open to new ideas and approaches
·
Strong
commitment to diversity in the workplace and community-based
approaches
Minimum
Experience
Three
years of progressively responsible managerial experience; at least
three years experience working with public-private partnerships
and/or collaborative efforts; considerable experience working within
a volunteer committee structure, ensuring contract compliance, and
managing budgets. Background with a regional system a strong
plus.
Education
Requirements
Bachelor’s
degree from an accredited college or university in public
administration, urban planning, public health, sociology, social
work, or related field.

Bilingual
(English/Spanish) a plus
Salary &
Benefits
Range: $60,000 – 70,000 per year plus health and
dental benefits and a 403b deferred compensation plan.
